THE BACKSTORY

THE DAILY FICTION PROJECT began publishing a story every weekday in late 2012 and continued doing so for eight months, with a pause in the month of May.

This website was intended to overcome a deadly combination of procrastination and perfectionism. In this sense, it was a personal indulgence, a laboratory to test out new ideas, a gymnasium of the imagination where I could exercise my literary chops. But as the days went on, it became something more like an obsession.

There are plans afoot for a print publication of a selection of the stories, and I'm also working on a novel, the idea for which was a DFP story.
